I’ll never forget my first trip to Europe! At the end of 2017, I had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe and visit multiple cities over the course of two weeks. It was absolutely a once in a lifetime experience, and one that I’ll never forget.
We flew from BWI to JFK, and then on to Rome for the beginning of our trip. We got into Rome the next morning and took a bus to our hotel. We were meeting up with some of our colleagues from our London office and they weren’t there yet, so we had some time to get settled in and take naps.
Once the rest of our group arrived, we went out and walked around exploring the city on our own. We went out to dinner and had drinks after. I hadn’t met most of the people in our group before, so it was really nice getting to know them on this first night.
The next morning we had a full day of touring. We started the day with a tour of the Colosseum and walked around the Roman Forum. We threw coins over our left shoulder into the Trevi Fountain and stopped to take a break and grab affogatos.
Our tour ended at the Pantheon, but we decided to continue on our own so we walked to Vatican City and went inside St. Peter’s Basilica. I was a little disappointed because the Sistine Chapel was closed that day, so I’ll have to make a trip back!
We went out for pizza that night and got drinks again after dinner. It ended up being kind of a late night and we were leaving already the next day. I would absolutely go back to Rome. It’s such a beautiful city and I would have liked to experience it for more than two nights.
I have been attempting to learn Italian on Duolingo, so keep an eye out for another Italy trip in the future!
